How to Maintain Your Beautiful Gazebo Throughout the Year

Much like your wooden fence or deck, your wooden outdoor structures will need a little TLC for the start of the fall and winter months.

Much like your wooden fence or deck, your wooden outdoor structures will need a little TLC for the start of the fall and winter months. Especially for your beautiful gazebo, a small amount of maintenance can go along way for preserving its structural integrity and style for months and years to come. As you prepare your landscape for the season, be sure to perform these small maintenance checks on your gazebo this fall.

Inspect Your Gazebo for Damage

Similar to the way you should inspect your deck or fence in between seasons, it is also important to inspect your gazebo as well. Check for damage such as splitting, cracks, or termites so that these issues do not worsen into the upcoming months. A simple check can save you a significant amount of stress and money surrounding repairs. By inspecting for damage early, you may also be able to take advantage of the better weather for repairs in the cooler months of fall.

Remove Debris from the Exterior

Although it may seem harmless, debris such as rotting leaves and fallen branches can negatively affect your structure if left there throughout the season. Rotting leaves, especially those that are holding moisture, can lead to mold growth on your structure if left on the roof or floor of your gazebo over time. With this, it is essential to sweep them off as they accumulate throughout the season. This point also applies to clear heavy snow accumulation from the gazebo in the winter months to prevent cracking as the weather changes.

Clean Your Gazebo Interior

As the seasons change, it may also be a good idea to remove any nests from the interior of your gazebo, so they do not damage the structure. Once you have cleared the exterior roof of fallen leaves and branches, check the inside of your gazebo and be sure to remove any old nests that may be tucked away in its interior. Wasp nests, as well as old birds nests,  should be cleared to ensure that your gazebo is clean and free of debris for the season.
